It is almost too long ago to remember why I began to create pottery. Maybe my brain has pushed out the memory in order to fill the space with more useful information? Maybe it was because I needed to teach my students ceramics and I had only a fleeting, shallow knowledge of the medium? Maybe because I had lost my sense of painting and needed to fill the artistic void?
Regardless the reason, I have an unquenchable longing to create art; specifically an addiction to sire clay forms. The greatest satisfaction for me, as an artist, is to produce functional pottery and know that people will hofefully use my art as a part of their daily routine. I strive to create unique and reliable pottery. I’m intrigued by clean lines and forms, organic and geometric patterns, simple construction, and overall balance. I’m inherently drawn toward art work that looks universal and resolved.
